同記事によると、少女は友人とともに、自宅近くの川で泳いで遊んでいたそうだ。少女は岸に上がったが、岸から川を見ると、友人がワニに太腿を噛まれていたという。

　少女は再び川に飛び込み、ワニの上に乗った後、ワニの両目を指で突いた。少女がワニの両目を指で突くと、ワニは友人から離れたため、少女は友人を抱えて岸に上がったという。ワニは友人から離れた後は攻撃することはなかった。

　少女は「とにかく友人を助けたいと思った。なぜ両目を突こうと思ったのかは分からない」と話しているという。少女に怪我はなく、友人は太腿を噛まれるも軽症で済んだ。

　世界には息子や友人を救うため、ワニに立ち向かうほど勇敢な人がいるようだ。
