事件の事実を理解できる年になったときのショックの大きさは計り知れない」「息子の心のケアが長期的に必要」「誤って撃ったとしても引き金を引かなければ銃は撃てない。息子にそんな力はないと思う」「警察は何も言っていないけど、自分は父親を疑ってしまう」などの声が挙がっていた。

　息子に悪意がなかったことは確かであるが、子どもが簡単に銃を手にできる環境がある以上、銃の取り扱いに関しさらなる議論が必要になってくるかもしれない。
