警察によると、息子の母親は別の場所で暮らしていた。父親は2021年2月に息子の監護権を与えられそこから息子と暮らしていたという。体罰は、父親が息子とともに暮らし始めた同月から始まっていた。

　このニュースが世界に広がると、ネット上では「息子が不憫で仕方ない」「大人向けのテレビを見ていただけで殺すほどではない」「父親には嫌悪感しかないが、父親一人の子育てで心に余裕がなかった可能性もある」「体罰が1年ほど前から始まっていたのならどこかで周りが気づけなかったのか」などの声が挙がっていた。

　同じような事件が再び起こることを防ぐためには、父親が体罰をし始めたきっかけなど父親の心理的な問題を探る必要もあるだろう。
