■「Google翻訳とYahoo!翻訳」の微妙な違い

ところが「その家族は、父と母と、彼らの子どもで構成されている」にすると、GoogleはThe family is consisted of father and mother and their children.とうまく訳せたそうです。

しかしYahoo!はそれでも、The family consists of the child of father and mother and them.となってしまうのだとか。

そこで、「彼らの子ども」の「彼らの」を取ると、Yahoo!も次のように正しく訳せるのだそうです。

We found that the family consisted of father and mother and the child.(Yahoo!)

このように、3つ以上の項目が並んでいる文を英訳するときは、それらにかかる修飾が邪魔になるというわけです。
