John Reed were honored for their action during a firefight Jan 28.この激戦の中で獅子奮迅の活躍が評価され 12 名の全戦士に対して、戦闘功労付きの陸軍称揚章 (Army Commendation Medal with Valor Device) が贈られている。なお、中心的活躍を担ったバラード軍曹については後に銀星章 (Silver Star Medal) が、また別の 2 名のチームメンバーについても青銅星章 (Bronze Star) へ格上げとなっている。
