第1条「戦争終結のチャンスを与える」
(1) We, the President of the United States, the President of the National Government of the Republic of China and the Prime Minister of Great Britain, representing the hundreds of millions of our countrymen, have conferred and agree that Japan shall be given an opportunity to end this war.
一 吾等合衆國大統領、中華民國政府主席及「グレート、ブリテン」國總理大臣ハ吾等ノ數億ノ國民ヲ代表シ協議ノ上日本國ニ對シ今次ノ戰爭ヲ終結スルノ機會ヲ與フルコトニ意見一致セリ
【意訳】我々（アメリカ大統領・中華民国主席・イギリス首相）は、数億の国民を代表して協議した結果、日本国に対して戦争終結の機会を与えることで意見が一致した。
※中華民国とは、現代の台湾に相当します。いわゆる中国（中華人民共和国）は、当時建国していませんでした。
